Egypt to Portugal visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Portugal for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option, and ETIAS does not apply to Egyptian nationals. Portugal is a member of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the EU's list of nationalities that require a visa for short stays. As of 2026-06-02, an Egyptian ordinary passport holder must obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa in advance through the Portuguese Embassy in Cairo, processed via the VFS Global visa application centre in Egypt. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. The standard Schengen visa fee is 90 EUR (paid in EGP), plus a VFS service charge. ETIAS (the EU travel authorization launching in Q4 2026) is only for visa-exempt nationalities and does NOT apply to Egyptians, who continue to need a full Schengen visa. Travelers should apply well ahead of travel, as standard processing is around 15 working days but can extend to 30-60 days. Applications can be lodged no earlier than 6 months before the intended trip.

Confirm the visa type
