Egypt to Norway visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before traveling to Norway for tourism. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival option. ETIAS does not apply to Egyptians because it is only for visa-exempt nationalities. Norway is part of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the EU "negative list" of nationalities that require a visa to enter the Schengen zone. An Egyptian ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen Uniform short-stay visa (Type C) before departure for a tourist visit. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications for Norway are lodged through the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Cairo, where biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are captured; the files are then decided by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, which handles Norwegian visa cases for Egypt. The base consular fee is EUR 90 for adults (EUR 45 for children 6-11, free under 6), set EU-wide, plus a VFS service charge. Applicants must show a passport valid at least three months beyond the planned departure with at least two blank pages and issued within the last 10 years, confirmed round-trip travel, accommodation for the whole stay, travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage valid across Schengen, and proof of sufficient funds. Regarding recent changes: ETIAS (the EU travel authorisation) is scheduled to launch in Q4 2026, but it applies only to visa-EXEMPT travelers; visa-required nationals such as Egyptians will continue to need a full Schengen visa and will NOT use ETIAS. The Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out for all non-EU travelers but does not change the visa requirement. Travelers should apply well in advance (you may file up to 6 months before travel) because appointment availability and processing can vary seasonally.
