Egypt to Mauritania visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Mauritania for tourism. Since January 2025, Mauritania requires an electronic visa obtained online before travel; the old visa-on-arrival channel and embassy-issued stickers have been discontinued for ordinary passports. As of mid-2026, an Egyptian citizen holding an ordinary passport is visa-required for Mauritania and must obtain a Mauritanian eVisa through the official ANRPTS portal (anrpts.gov.mr) before boarding. Mauritania launched its eVisa system on 5 January 2025; from that date all visa-required nationals must apply online in advance, and visa-on-arrival at airports and land borders was discontinued. As of June 2025, Mauritanian embassies and consulates no longer issue visa stickers and instead refer applicants to the online portal. The tourist eVisa is typically issued as a single-entry, 30-day stay, with longer 90-day and 360-day options available. The standard fee is 55 EUR (about 60 USD) for the 30-day visa. A notable practical quirk: the eVisa application is completed and approved online, but the fee is collected in exact cash (clean Euro or US dollar notes) on arrival, and travelers must carry a printed copy of the approved eVisa. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond arrival. Egyptian diplomatic and service passport holders are exempt and do not need a visa, but this guide covers ordinary passports only. Because one airport source still references a biometric visa-on-arrival system, travelers should treat the online eVisa as mandatory and not rely on obtaining a visa on arrival.
