Egypt to Madagascar visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Madagascar, but it is easy to obtain. The recommended route is the official Madagascar tourist eVisa (apply online at evisamada-mg.com). A visa on arrival is also available at Antananarivo (Ivato) airport for all nationalities, but it is slower and less reliable. Madagascar is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Madagascar applies a single visa policy to all nationalities, including Egyptian (EG) ordinary passport holders: there is no visa-free entry, but a tourist visa is readily available either as an electronic visa (eVisa) obtained online before travel or as a visa on arrival (VOA) at international airports such as Antananarivo Ivato (TNR). For a short tourist visit, the eVisa is the recommended channel because it is faster, more reliable, and avoids airport queues. The eVisa is single-entry, tourist-only, and supports stays up to 90 days, with tiered fees by duration. On 16 February 2026 the fee for the 15-day (1-15 days) tier tripled from EUR 10 to EUR 30 (about USD 35); longer-stay tiers were unchanged (16-30 days EUR 35, 31-60 days EUR 40, 61-90 days EUR 50). Embassy and visa-on-arrival fees had not adopted the increase as of that date, but real travelers should expect to pay the published eVisa amounts. Applications are accepted from one week up to six months before travel, and authorization is normally issued within 72 hours. Egyptian travelers need a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages. Madagascar is not part of the Schengen zone, so the 90/180 short-stay rule and the EU ETIAS scheme are irrelevant to this route.
