Egypt to North Korea visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter North Korea (DPRK). There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option. Independent travel is not allowed: you must book a guided tour through a state-authorized operator, who arranges the visa on your behalf. Note that as of mid-2026 the DPRK has suspended general tourism for all nationalities except Russian citizens, so the route is effectively closed pending reopening. An Egyptian citizen holding an ordinary passport requires a tourist visa to visit North Korea (the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, DPRK). North Korea has no visa-free agreement with Egypt and offers no visa-on-arrival or electronic visa channel. The only legal route for tourists is a fully guided group or independent tour arranged through a tour operator authorized by the State General Bureau of Tourist Guidance / Korea International Travel Company (KITC); the operator submits the visa application and the visitor never deals directly with a DPRK embassy. The visa is issued as a separate tourist card or paper document, not stamped into the passport, and is typically collected at a pre-tour briefing in China (Beijing/Dandong) or Russia. Egyptian passport holders are eligible to apply: North Korea declines applications only from South Korean and US passport holders (and, in practice, Israeli and Japanese nationals). Critically, tourism status is in flux. After a brief reopening window in early 2025, the DPRK suspended entry for all foreign tourists except Russian citizens from March 2025, and as of June 2026 general international tourism has not resumed. Travelers should treat the route as visa-required AND currently restricted, and must verify status with an authorized operator and Egypt's foreign ministry before making any plans. Passport must be valid at least six months beyond the intended stay, and proof of onward travel is required.
