Egypt to Hungary visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Hungary for tourism. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option. ETIAS does not apply to Egyptians. Hungary is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the EU's list of nationalities that require a short-stay visa. An Egyptian ordinary passport holder must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa before traveling to Hungary for tourism. Applications are submitted in Egypt through VFS Global centers in Cairo and Alexandria on behalf of the Hungarian consular service. The standard Schengen visa fee is EUR 90, plus a VFS service charge (around EGP 1,453), with standard processing of about 15 working days (up to 45-60 days in peak periods or for additional checks). The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. ETIAS, the EU's upcoming travel authorization expected to launch in Q4 2026, applies only to visa-exempt nationalities and does NOT cover Egyptians, who continue to use the traditional Schengen visa. The new EES (Entry/Exit System) begins biometric border registration from 10 April 2026, which affects all non-EU travelers including Egyptians at entry. Applicants should provide a valid passport, photos, proof of accommodation and flights, financial means, Schengen travel insurance (minimum EUR 30,000 / EUR 40 per day coverage), and supporting personal documents.
