Egypt to Greece visa requirements

Yes, you need a visa. Egyptian ordinary passport holders must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa before traveling to Greece for tourism. Apply in advance through the Greek Consulate in Cairo or Alexandria via VFS Global. Greece is a full member of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the EU's list of countries whose nationals require a visa (Annex I). An Egyptian ordinary passport holder cannot enter Greece visa-free and is not eligible for visa-on-arrival; they must apply for and obtain a Schengen Uniform Type C visa before departure. Applications for Greece are lodged at the Greek Consulate General in Cairo (or Alexandria), with collection of documents and biometrics outsourced to VFS Global, which has centres in Cairo and Alexandria. The visa permits a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area (29 countries). The Schengen visa fee is EUR 90, plus a VFS service fee (approximately EGP 1,240). Standard processing is 15 calendar days but may extend to 45-60 days, so applicants should apply early (no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before travel). Required documents include a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure with two blank pages, travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000, confirmed flight and hotel bookings, and bank statements showing 6 months of transactions. ETIAS does not apply to Egyptian nationals: ETIAS is only for visa-exempt travellers, and because Egyptians already require a Schengen visa, they will continue to use the standard visa process even after ETIAS launches in late 2026.
