Egypt to United Kingdom visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a UK Standard Visitor visa before travelling for tourism. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival route, and the UK ETA does not apply to Egyptians because Egypt is a "visa national" country. Egypt is listed as a "visa national" in the UK Immigration Rules (Appendix Visitor: Visa National List, entry 32), meaning Egyptian citizens must obtain entry clearance before travelling to the UK for any visit under six months. For tourism, the correct route is the Standard Visitor visa, which permits stays of up to 6 months. The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme does NOT apply to Egyptians — the ETA is only for non-visa nationals (such as US, EU, Gulf and other visa-exempt travellers). Applicants apply online via GOV.UK, pay the fee (£135 for a 6-month single/multiple-entry visa from 8 April 2026), then attend a TLScontact visa application centre in Cairo or Alexandria to give biometrics (fingerprints and photo). Standard processing is about 3 weeks; priority and super-priority services are available for an extra fee. Long-term visitor visas (2, 5 and 10 years) are available for frequent travellers but each visit is still capped at 6 months.
