Egypt to Ethiopia visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Ethiopia for tourism. Egypt is not on Ethiopia's short visa-exemption list (only Djibouti and Kenya are visa-free), so an Egyptian ordinary passport holder must obtain a visa before traveling. The recommended and standard route is the Ethiopian electronic visa (eVisa), applied for online at the official government portal www.evisa.gov.et. Ethiopia does not offer a general visa-on-arrival to Egyptian nationals as a primary channel; the eVisa is the official online pre-approval and is mandatory before boarding. As of 2026 the tourist eVisa is single entry for stays of up to 30 days, with an official government fee of USD 62. Ethiopia stopped issuing the 90-day electronic tourist visa in late 2025, so 30 days is the available maximum for the e-tourist visa. The eVisa is only valid for entry via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport; arrival at any other airport or land border crossing with an eVisa will be refused. Processing is typically a few business days, but travelers are advised to apply at least 10 business days ahead. Passports must be valid for at least six months with a blank page.
