Egypt to Spain visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a Schengen Type C short-stay visa to visit Spain for tourism. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival option, and ETIAS does not apply to Egyptian nationals because Egypt is on the Schengen visa-required list. Spain is a member of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the list of nationalities that require a visa before travel. An Egyptian ordinary passport holder must obtain a Schengen Type C (short-stay) visa from a Spanish consulate or its authorized visa application centre (BLS International) in Egypt before departure. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen states. Applications are lodged in person at BLS centres in Cairo or Alexandria after booking an appointment; biometrics (fingerprints and photo) are collected. The standard adult visa fee is EUR 90, plus a BLS service fee. Standard processing is 15 calendar days but can extend to 45 days, so applying early (up to 180 days before travel, and no later than 15 days before) is essential. Mandatory supporting documents include travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 coverage, proof of accommodation, round-trip flight reservations, bank statements, and proof of employment or ties to Egypt. ETIAS (the EU travel authorization expected to launch in late 2026) does NOT apply to Egyptian nationals, since it covers only visa-exempt nationalities; Egyptians continue to use the standard Schengen visa process. Travelers should always confirm current requirements with the Spanish consulate before applying, as decisions are at the discretion of the consulate.
