Egypt to Bhutan visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Bhutan. There is no visa-free or visa-on-arrival channel; you must apply online before travel and pay the Sustainable Development Fee in advance. Egypt is not on Bhutan's exemption list (only India, with separate arrangements for Bangladesh and Maldives, are treated differently). All other nationals, including Egyptians, must obtain an eVisa/e-Permit before arrival. The application is filed online through Bhutan's official immigration portal (immi.gov.bt) or arranged by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or hotel. Each applicant pays a non-refundable US$40 visa application fee plus the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of US$100 per adult, per night, which must be paid in full before the visa is issued. Applications are typically reviewed within five working days. The visa is single-entry and permits a stay of up to 90 days, extendable from within Bhutan before expiry. From 1 January 2026 a 5% Goods and Services Tax applies to tourism services (the SDF itself is excluded). A passport valid at least six months beyond the intended departure date and valid travel insurance are required. Bhutan is in South Asia and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply.
