Egypt to Austria visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders MUST obtain a Schengen Type C short-stay visa before traveling to Austria. There is no visa-free, visa-on-arrival, or eVisa option. ETIAS does not apply to Egyptian nationals because Egypt is a visa-required country. Austria is a member of the Schengen Area, and Egypt is on the EU/Schengen list of nationalities that require a visa for any entry, including short tourist stays. An Egyptian ordinary passport holder must apply for a uniform Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) before departure. This visa permits a maximum stay of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications for Austria are lodged in Egypt through the VFS Global Austria Visa Application Centre in Cairo, on behalf of the Austrian Embassy/Consulate. The standard visa fee is EUR 90 plus a local VFS service charge (around EGP 2,011). Standard processing is 15 calendar days but can extend to 45 days when additional checks are required, so applicants should apply well in advance (up to 6 months before travel, and no later than 15 working days before). Required documents include a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure with 2 blank pages, travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage including repatriation, proof of accommodation, round-trip travel reservation, proof of sufficient financial means, and evidence of intent to return. The forthcoming ETIAS travel authorisation (expected late 2026) does NOT apply to Egyptian nationals because it only covers visa-exempt travellers; Egyptians continue to follow the standard Schengen visa procedure.
