Egypt to Afghanistan visa requirements

Egyptian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Afghanistan and can now apply online for a single-entry tourist e-Visa through Afghanistan's official E-Afghans portal (launched March 2026). Egypt is not on any of Afghanistan's restricted or banned nationality lists, so Egyptian citizens are eligible to apply. Afghanistan does not grant visa-free or true visa-on-arrival access to Egyptian ordinary passport holders. In March 2026 the Taliban-led authorities launched an online tourist e-Visa via the E-Afghans portal, replacing the prior reliance on embassy/consulate processing for many travelers. The e-Visa is single entry, allows a stay of up to 30 days, is valid for entry for 90 days from the date of issue, and is currently accepted only when arriving at Kabul International Airport (Hamid Karzai International Airport) for air arrivals; land borders are not yet integrated with the e-Visa system. Egypt is not among the nationalities Afghanistan has declared ineligible or restricted (those lists cover countries such as Iran, Pakistan, Israel, and several Central Asian and Gulf states), so Egyptian citizens may apply normally. Typical published costs are a service/application fee of around USD 8 plus a visa fee of roughly USD 120 (total commonly cited near USD 120-128, with a small card processing surcharge). Processing usually takes about 1-3 weeks, though expedited handling is sometimes available. Applicants generally upload a passport bio-page scan and a passport photo and may be asked for an Afghan address/sponsor. Egyptian travelers can alternatively obtain a paper visa from the Embassy of Afghanistan in Cairo, which issues single-entry tourist visas typically valid for a one-month stay. Security and entry conditions in Afghanistan change rapidly; travelers should reconfirm with the official portal and the Cairo embassy and check their own government's travel advisories before booking. Because no confirmed no-visa channel exists, a visa (e-Visa) is mandatory.
