Germany has a visa-waiver arrangement with Panama for short tourist and business stays. As of May 2026, holders of an ordinary German passport may enter Panama without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswaertiges Amt) confirms that no visa is required, though border officials may, in individual cases, limit the permitted stay to as little as 15 days. The passport must be valid for at least three months at the time of entry (carriers and many sources recommend six months to avoid problems). You must be able to present a return or onward ticket and, if asked, proof of economic solvency of at least US$500 (cash, bank statement, or credit card). Panama is in Central America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
