Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit NA?

German ordinary passport holders need a visa for Namibia since 1 April 2025. You can get a Visa on Arrival at major ports of entry (Hosea Kutako International Airport, Walvis Bay), or apply for the same visa online in advance via the official eServices portal — which Namibian authorities strongly recommend. The fee is N$1,600 (about EUR 82 / USD 88) and the stay is up to 90 days. Until 31 March 2025, German, Austrian and Swiss ordinary passport holders entered Namibia visa-free for up to 90 days. Effective 1 April 2025, Germany was one of 33 nationalities to lose visa-free access. German tourists now require a visa, obtainable as a Visa on Arrival (VoA) at designated ports of entry or — strongly recommended — by applying online in advance for the same visa through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security eServices portal (eservices.mhaiss.gov.na). The fee for non-African nationals, including Germans, is N$1,600 (roughly EUR 82 / USD 88). The visa permits a tourist stay of up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date and carry at least three blank pages. Travelers should also be ready to show a return/onward ticket, proof of accommodation, travel/medical insurance and proof of sufficient funds. Holders of German diplomatic and official passports remain exempt under reciprocal arrangements, but this guide covers ordinary passports. Namibia is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. Because VoA queues can be long and approval is not absolutely guaranteed at the border, applying for the eVisa online before departure is the safer path.
