Do Germany passport holders need a visa to visit MD?
German (DE) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Moldova for tourism. You may stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Germany is on Moldova's list of countries whose nationals are exempt from a visa for entry, exit and transit. A German ordinary passport holder can travel to Moldova for tourism, private visits or business without any visa or e-visa and stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. Moldova is NOT part of the Schengen Area or the EU, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do NOT apply to entering Moldova (ETIAS only affects Moldovan citizens travelling to Schengen). Travelers need a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date; EU citizens may alternatively enter on a valid machine-readable national ID card. Border officers may ask for proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. Stays beyond 90 days require a residence/immigration document from the Bureau for Migration and Asylum. Paid work is not permitted on this visa-free entry.
