Germany to Hong Kong (SAR China) visa requirements

German ordinary passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism. Germany remains on Hong Kong's visa-free list, and German ordinary passport holders may enter Hong Kong for tourism, social visits, transit or short business visits for up to 90 days without a visa or pre-arrival permit. No eVisa, ETA, pre-arrival registration or visa-on-arrival is required, and visitors no longer complete arrival/departure cards. Travelers should carry adequate funds and onward or return travel evidence unless exempt as transit passengers. Germany's official travel advice states the passport must be valid for at least one month beyond the intended stay; six months' validity remains the practical safe standard because HKETO guidance, airlines and onward destinations may be stricter. Visitor status does not cover employment, study, residence, establishing or joining a business, or staying beyond the visa-free period. Hong Kong permission is separate from Mainland China: German ordinary passport holders may separately qualify for Mainland China's temporary 30-day visa-free policy through 31 December 2026 for eligible purposes; otherwise obtain the appropriate PRC visa or permit.
