Q: How long can I stay in Armenia without a visa?

Up to 180 days within any one-year period. Beyond that you must obtain a residence permit or leave and respect the annual limit.

Q: Is there a fee or online registration before travel?

No. There is no fee and no e-visa or pre-arrival registration for German citizens. You simply present your passport at the border.

Q: Does ETIAS or the Schengen 90/180 rule apply to Armenia?

No. Armenia is not in the Schengen area or the EU, so neither the Schengen 90/180 rule nor ETIAS applies to entering Armenia.

Q: How much passport validity do I need?

Your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay. At least 3 months of remaining validity is recommended to avoid problems.

Q: What about Armenia's temporary residence-permit visa-free programs?

Those temporary programs target nationalities that normally need a visa. German citizens already have full visa-free access and do not rely on them.

German (DE) ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Armenia. As EU citizens they enter visa-free and may stay up to 180 days within any one-year period for tourism or short visits. Germany is on Armenia's unilateral visa-free list (all EU member states), so German ordinary passport holders need no visa, e-visa or visa-on-arrival for tourism. The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms visa-exempt nationals may remain in Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days within any one-year period. There is no entry fee and no online registration to complete before travel; you simply present your passport at the border. The passport should be valid for the duration of stay (allow at least 3 months of remaining validity to be safe). Armenia is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and the EU's ETIAS scheme do not apply to entering Armenia. Note that separate, temporary residence-permit-based exemption programs Armenia has run in 2025-2026 are aimed at non-visa-free nationalities and are irrelevant to German citizens, who already have full visa-free access. As of 30 May 2026 this is the current position; travelers should still confirm with the Armenian MFA or the Armenian Embassy in Berlin shortly before departure as policies can change.
