Do China passport holders need a visa to visit SE?
Chinese ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Sweden for tourism. Sweden is in the Schengen Area, and China is not on the visa-exempt list, so ETIAS does not apply to you. Sweden is part of the Schengen Area, and Chinese ordinary passport holders are not visa-exempt for short stays. To visit for tourism you must apply for a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travel. The main consular fee is EUR 90 (about CNY 700) plus a VFS Global service charge of roughly EUR 18 / CNY 145. Applications in China are filed through VFS Global visa application centres on behalf of the Swedish embassy/consulates; Sweden should be your main destination (most days, or first entry point) for the visa to be issued by Sweden. Standard processing is about 15 calendar days but can extend to 45 days, so apply well in advance (you may apply up to 6 months before travel). A valid passport, completed application form, travel medical insurance covering at least EUR 30,000, proof of funds (SEK 450 per day), accommodation and return-trip evidence are required. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across all Schengen states. Note: ETIAS is a separate travel authorisation only for visa-exempt nationalities and does not replace the Schengen visa for Chinese passport holders.
