Do China passport holders need a visa to visit RW?

Chinese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Rwanda but can get it on arrival without any prior application, or apply online via the Irembo eVisa portal before travel. The standard tourist visa costs USD 50 for single entry and allows a 30-day stay. Rwanda operates an open-door visa policy: since 1 January 2018, citizens of all countries — including China — may obtain a visa on arrival at any port of entry without prior application. China is not on Rwanda's visa-waiver list, so Chinese ordinary passport holders pay the standard fee of USD 50 for a single-entry visitor (V1/tourist) visa, valid for a 30-day stay; a multiple-entry option costs USD 70 and supports stays up to 90 days. The same visa can be applied for in advance online through the official Irembo portal (irembo.gov.rw) or at a Rwandan diplomatic mission, with payment online or on arrival. Because no advance approval is required and the visa is reliably issued at the airport, visa-on-arrival is the most accurate verdict for a short tourist visit, though applying via Irembo beforehand is a convenient alternative that reduces airport queues and satisfies airline boarding checks. Note: holders of Chinese diplomatic, service and "public affairs" passports enjoy a separate 90-day visa exemption, but this does not apply to ordinary passports. Passports must be valid at least 6 months with a blank page.
