Do China passport holders need a visa to visit NO?
Chinese ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Norway for tourism. It must be applied for in advance through VFS Global in China before travel. Norway is a member of the Schengen Area, and Chinese ordinary passport holders are not visa-exempt. To visit Norway for tourism you must obtain a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before departure, which allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. Applications are lodged at a VFS Global Norway Visa Application Centre in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, etc.). The visa fee is EUR 90 for adults plus a VFS service fee, and standard processing is up to 15 calendar days (occasionally up to 45 days for cases referred to the UDI). Because Chinese citizens require a full visa, the new EU ETIAS travel authorisation does NOT apply to them — ETIAS is only for visa-exempt nationals. Apply at least 4 weeks before departure; you may apply up to 6 months ahead. Required documents include a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure (issued within the last 10 years), travel medical insurance with minimum EUR 30,000 coverage, proof of accommodation, round-trip itinerary, and proof of sufficient funds (about NOK 500 per day).
