Do China passport holders need a visa to visit MK?

Chinese ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit North Macedonia for tourism. Apply for a Type C short-stay visa (EUR 60) at a North Macedonian diplomatic mission before travel — unless you already hold a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa (or, in 2026, a valid multiple-entry US/UK/Canadian visa), which lets you enter visa-free for up to 15 days per entry. North Macedonia is not in the Schengen Area and runs its own visa policy. Holders of an ordinary People's Republic of China passport are NOT visa-exempt and must obtain a visa before arrival; only Chinese passports endorsed "for public affairs" and diplomatic/official passports are exempt. The widely reported China–North Macedonia 30-day visa-free arrangement applies to the reverse direction (North Macedonian citizens entering China, valid through 31 Dec 2026) and does NOT benefit Chinese travelers. For tourism, Chinese citizens apply for a Type C short-stay (and transit) visa at the nearest North Macedonian embassy/consulate; the fee is EUR 60 (EUR 35 for children 6–12) and it permits stays of up to 90 days. There is one practical shortcut: North Macedonia waives the visa for foreigners holding a valid multiple-entry Schengen Type C visa, and — under a temporary decision valid 1 January to 31 December 2026 — for holders of a valid multiple-entry British, American or Canadian visa. In those cases the visa/permit must be inserted in the passport and valid at least 5 days beyond the planned stay, and the stay is limited to 15 days per entry with a 90-day-in-180 cap. Travelers without such a visa should plan for the embassy visa route, which typically takes 3–10 working days but can run longer. Passport must be valid at least 3 months beyond the intended stay.

Verified the widely cited 30-day visa-free policy applies only to the reverse direction (North Macedonians to China). Confirmed the visa-waiver for multiple-entry Schengen visa holders and the temporary 2026 decision (1 Jan–31 Dec 2026) waiving the visa for valid multiple-entry US/UK/Canadian visa holders, capped at 15 days per entry.

Can Chinese citizens enter North Macedonia visa-free?
No. Ordinary Chinese passport holders need a visa. Only Chinese passports endorsed 'for public affairs' and diplomatic/official passports are exempt. The 30-day visa-free policy you may have read about applies to North Macedonians visiting China, not the other way around.
