Do China passport holders need a visa to visit MC?
Chinese ordinary passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Monaco. Apply through France — Monaco has no separate visa and is administered within the Schengen Area as part of France. Monaco is not an EU or formal Schengen member, but under its 1963 customs-union convention with France it is administered within the Schengen Area as if it were French territory, so the standard Schengen short-stay visa policy applies. Chinese ordinary passport holders are on the Schengen visa-required list and must obtain a uniform Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa before travel. Because Monaco issues no visas of its own, applications are handled by France — in China this means applying via the French consulate's service provider (TLScontact / VFS Global) in your consular district. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the whole Schengen Area, including Monaco. As of June 2026 the standard adult Schengen visa fee is EUR 90. ETIAS does NOT apply to Chinese nationals — ETIAS is only for visa-exempt travellers, so Chinese citizens continue on the full visa route. Allow at least 15 calendar days for processing and apply no earlier than 6 months before travel.
