Do China passport holders need a visa to visit BE?

Chinese passport holders need a Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa to visit Belgium for tourism. Apply in advance through VFS Global in China; there is no visa-on-arrival and no eVisa. Belgium is part of the Schengen Area, and China does not have a visa-waiver agreement with the EU. A Chinese ordinary passport holder must therefore obtain a Schengen short-stay (C) visa before travelling to Belgium for tourism or a short visit. The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across all 29 Schengen countries. Applications are lodged through the official Belgian visa partner VFS Global in China, with biometrics (fingerprints and photo) collected in person. The standard visa fee is EUR 90 for adults, plus a VFS service charge. Processing usually takes about 15 calendar days but can be longer in peak season, so applying 3-4 weeks ahead (up to 6 months in advance) is recommended. Note: ETIAS — the EU's new travel authorisation expected to launch in late 2026 — applies only to visa-exempt nationalities and does NOT replace the visa requirement for Chinese citizens, who must continue to obtain a full Schengen visa.
