🇨🇭Switzerland🇨🇳ChinaCH-CN Switzerland to China visa requirements
Swiss ordinary passport holders can enter mainland China visa-free for eligible short visits of up to 30 days. China's unilateral policy is extended through 24:00 on 31 December 2026. As of 20 June 2026, Swiss ordinary passport holders can enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchange visits, or transit. The Chinese Embassy in Switzerland notice dated 4 November 2025 confirms the Switzerland policy is extended to 24:00 on 31 December 2026, and the NIA country list dated 17 February 2026 continues to list Switzerland among covered European countries. No visa application, embassy pre-declaration, fee, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required for eligible trips. Travelers must use an ordinary passport valid for the intended stay; 6+ months validity and blank pages remain prudent for airline checks or visa fallback, but China's visa-waiver FAQ does not state a 6-month requirement for visa-free entry. Border officers may examine the trip purpose, so carry matching documents such as invitation letters, air tickets, and accommodation reservations. The 30-day stay is counted from 00:00 on the day after entry, and eligible travelers may use the waiver multiple times with no current official cap on entries or total days, provided each visit stays within the permitted purpose. Work, study, news coverage, non-ordinary travel documents, and planned stays over 30 days still require the appropriate visa in advance; if a proper reason to stay longer arises after visa-free entry, apply for a stay permit with the public security exit-entry administration before expiry. This unilateral policy applies to mainland China only; Hong Kong and Macau have separate immigration rules.
