Do Brazil passport holders need a visa to visit MG?
Brazilian ordinary passport holders can travel to Madagascar for tourism without arranging a visa in advance. Madagascar grants visa on arrival to citizens of almost every country (the only exceptions are Burundi and Palestine), and an online eVisa is also available. For a short tourist trip, a Brazilian simply lands at an international airport (e.g. Antananarivo-Ivato or Nosy Be) and obtains a tourist visa at the eVisa counter, or applies online beforehand. Stays of 15, 30, 60 or up to 90 days are permitted. Madagascar operates an open visa policy: visitors of any nationality except Burundi and Palestine may obtain a tourist visa either on arrival at an international airport or online via the official eVisa portal (evisamada-mg.com). Brazilian ordinary passport holders are therefore not exempt from a visa, but they do not need to obtain one in advance and can pay at the airport on arrival, which makes visa-on-arrival the most practical channel for a short tourist stay. The visa is single-entry for tourism, with durations of 15, 30, 60 or up to 90 days. Historically, stays of 15 days or less attracted only a small administrative/tourist tax rather than a full visa fee. As of 16 February 2026, the online eVisa fee for the 15-day category tripled from EUR 10 to EUR 30 (about USD 35); longer durations were unchanged. According to multiple reports, embassies/consulates and visa-on-arrival counters had not (as of early 2026) all passed on this increase, so on-arrival pricing may still differ in practice. Travelers should carry cash in EUR or USD because cards are generally not accepted at on-arrival counters. Passports should be valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay. Madagascar is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
