Austria to Kyrgyzstan visa requirements

Austrian passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist visits to Kyrgyzstan. As of 1 January 2026, Austria (and all EU states) qualify for visa-free entry of up to 30 calendar days within any rolling 60-day period — a reduction from the previous 60-day allowance under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855. Austrian ordinary passport holders can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for tourism. Until the end of 2025 the allowance was 60 days within a 120-day window, but Kyrgyzstan's Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 855 (in force from 31 December 2025 / effective 1 January 2026) shortened this for 55 countries — including Austria and the EU — to a maximum of 30 calendar days within any 60-day period, counted cumulatively from the date of first entry. No visa, application, fee, or in-country registration is required for stays within this limit. Travelers simply present a valid passport at the border. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months and have blank pages; proof of onward travel may be requested. Kyrgyzstan is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers planning to stay longer than 30 days (or who will exceed the cumulative limit across multiple entries) must obtain an e-visa via the official portal evisa.e-gov.kg before arrival, with fees typically around USD 40-70 and processing up to about 5 working days. Because this is a recent and significant tightening, travelers should re-confirm their day allowance on the official MFA / e-visa portal before booking.
