Austria to Guatemala visa requirements

Austrian passport holders do NOT need a visa for Guatemala. As an EU citizen you may enter visa-free for tourism and stay up to 90 days within the CA-4 region (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua combined). Austria is a European Union member state, and Guatemala grants visa-free entry to all EU citizens for tourism, business and transit. Holders of an ordinary Austrian passport simply present a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay, together with proof of onward or return travel and (if asked) evidence of sufficient funds. On arrival, immigration issues a tourist stamp/card valid for up to 90 days. Importantly, this 90-day allowance is shared across the four CA-4 countries (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua) — time spent in any of them counts toward the same 90 days, and is measured within a 180-day window. Officers sometimes stamp a shorter period, so travelers should request the full 90 days. A one-time extension of up to 90 additional days can be requested from the Guatemalan immigration authority (Instituto Guatemalteco de Migración) before the original period expires. There is no visa fee for the visa-free entry; a modest exit/airport security charge may apply on departure. There were no policy changes affecting EU citizens in 2024-2026. A yellow fever certificate is required only if arriving from a country with yellow fever transmission risk.
