Austria to Burkina Faso visa requirements

Austrian passport holders need a visa for Burkina Faso. The standard route is the official eVisa, applied for online before travel at visaburkina.bf. Austria (ordinary passport) holders are not eligible for visa-free entry to Burkina Faso. Since the launch of the official eVisa platform on 17 August 2023, the recommended and standard channel for Austrian tourists is the electronic visa obtained in advance at the government portal visaburkina.bf. The eVisa is typically issued as a single-entry document authorizing a stay of up to 90 days; multiple-entry visas require an application at a Burkinabe diplomatic mission. Visa on arrival, formerly available to EU nationals, is now granted only in exceptional circumstances and should not be relied upon. Travelers must hold a passport valid at least six months beyond the intended stay and should carry proof of yellow fever vaccination, which is mandatory for entry. Burkina Faso is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
