🇦🇷Argentina🇺🇸United StatesAR-US Argentina to United States visa requirements
Argentine ordinary passport holders need a B1/B2 visitor visa for short tourism or business travel to the United States. Argentina is not currently in the Visa Waiver Program, so ESTA is not available. Argentine ordinary passport holders must obtain a U.S. B1/B2 visitor visa before travelling to the United States for tourism, visiting family or friends, medical treatment, or short business activities. Argentina is not currently listed as a Visa Waiver Program country, so Argentine citizens cannot use ESTA for ordinary short visits. The official visitor-visa process requires completing DS-160, paying the non-petition-based visitor visa application fee of USD 185, scheduling the required appointment(s), and satisfying a consular officer that the trip is temporary and that the applicant qualifies under U.S. law. The State Department reciprocity schedule for Argentina lists B-1, B-2, and B-1/B-2 visas as multiple-entry visas valid for 120 months with no separate reciprocity issuance fee. A CBP officer makes the final admission decision at the U.S. port of entry and records the authorized stay on the I-94; visa validity is not the same as permitted stay. Argentine passports are on CBP's Six-Month Club list, so they are exempt from the usual six-month passport-validity requirement and need to be valid for the intended period of stay. In July 2025, U.S. and Argentine officials announced a process for Argentina to work toward rejoining the Visa Waiver Program, but until Argentina is formally designated as a VWP country, a B1/B2 visa remains required.
