Argentina to Latvia visa requirements

No visa is required. Argentine ordinary passport holders can enter Latvia (a Schengen state) visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. ETIAS travel authorization is expected to become mandatory in late 2026. Argentina is on the EU/Schengen visa-exempt list, and Latvia is a full member of the Schengen Area. As confirmed by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holders of an ordinary Argentine passport may enter Latvia without a visa for short stays (tourism, business, family visits) for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No prior application, fee, or embassy appointment is needed for a short tourist visit as of mid-2026. Travelers must still satisfy standard Schengen entry conditions at the border: a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure and issued within the previous 10 years, proof of sufficient funds, onward/return travel, accommodation details, and travel medical insurance (the Latvian MFA explicitly notes a valid health insurance policy covering medical care and repatriation). The 90/180 cap is cumulative across ALL Schengen countries, not just Latvia. A significant upcoming change: the EU's ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026, after which Argentine citizens will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization (around EUR 20, valid 3 years) before travel. ETIAS is a pre-travel screening, not a visa, and there will be a transitional grace period. For travel before ETIAS enforcement, no authorization is needed. Note: the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), a biometric border registration system, is rolling out and may require fingerprint/photo registration at the border, but it is not a visa or fee.
