Argentina to Luxembourg visa requirements

Argentine ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Luxembourg. As a Schengen member, Luxembourg allows visa-free short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa or travel authorization is required as of mid-2026, though ETIAS will become mandatory once it launches (expected late 2026). Argentina holds a visa-waiver arrangement with the European Union (Schengen Area), so Argentine ordinary passport holders may enter Luxembourg visa-free for tourism, business, family visits or transit for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. Luxembourg is a full Schengen state, meaning entry is governed by Schengen Borders Code rules rather than Luxembourgish national rules: the 90/180 allowance is cumulative across ALL Schengen countries, not per country. At the border, Argentine travelers must carry a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the last 10 years, and may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, travel medical insurance, and sufficient funds (a guideline of roughly EUR 50-100 per day). Two new EU systems affect this route. The Entry/Exit System (EES) began a phased rollout in October 2025 and is expected to be fully operational by April 2026; it electronically registers entries/exits and biometrics, replacing passport stamping. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is a pre-travel authorization (not a visa) that will become mandatory for visa-exempt nationals including Argentines; the official EU timeline targets the last quarter of 2026, after which Argentine travelers will need to obtain an approved ETIAS (EUR 7, valid 3 years) before boarding. As of 2026-05-30, ETIAS is NOT yet required, so the practical verdict remains visa-free. Travelers intending to work, study long-term, or stay beyond 90 days must apply for a Luxembourg national (type D) long-stay visa or residence permit in advance.
