Argentina to Ecuador visa requirements

Argentine ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Ecuador for tourism. They receive a free 90-day tourist entry (T3 stamp) on arrival and may even enter using only a valid Argentine national ID card under the Mercosur freedom-of-movement framework. As of 2026, citizens of Argentina travel to Ecuador visa-free for tourism. On arrival at any Ecuadorian air, land, or sea port of entry, Argentine nationals receive a free T3 tourist stamp permitting a stay of up to 90 days. Because Argentina is a full member of Mercosur and Ecuador applies the Mercosur (and Associated Members) Residence and Free Movement agreements, Argentine citizens enjoy one of the most permissive entry arrangements available: they may enter with either a valid ordinary passport or a valid Argentine national identity document (DNI), and they can subsequently apply for legal residence and the right to work in Ecuador. For ordinary short tourist stays, no application, no fee, and no pre-arrival authorization are required. Ecuador counts tourist days against a 90-day limit (commonly framed as 90 days per calendar year, with stricter enforcement of cumulative stay limits in 2025-2026); a one-time 90-day tourist extension (12-IX) can be requested from inside Ecuador for a fee if more time is needed. Ecuador is in South America and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Standard requirements include a passport (or DNI) valid for the duration of stay, proof of onward/return travel, and sufficient funds; many sources recommend 6 months passport validity and travel/health insurance as good practice.
