Argentina to Cuba visa requirements

Argentine ordinary passport holders need an e-visa to visit Cuba for tourism. Since January 1, 2026, Cuba's electronic visa (evisacuba.cu) is mandatory for nearly all visitors and has fully replaced the old paper tourist card (tarjeta del turista). Cuba does not grant visa-free entry to Argentine tourists. Historically, Argentines (like most nationalities) used a paper "tarjeta del turista" (tourist card) bought through an airline, travel agent, or Cuban consulate. That system was phased out: tourist cards already issued remained valid only through December 31, 2025, and from January 1, 2026 the Cuban government's electronic visa (e-Visa), applied for online at the official portal evisacuba.cu, became the single mandatory travel authorization for tourism. The e-Visa is a single-entry authorization permitting a stay of up to 90 days, extendable once for a further 90 days while in Cuba (max ~180 days). The official government fee is approximately USD 50; third-party agencies and some airlines charge more. After approval the e-Visa is delivered as a PDF by email. In addition to the e-Visa, all travelers must hold travel health insurance with medical coverage valid in Cuba (an ASISTUR policy is sold at the airport if you arrive uninsured) and must complete the mandatory D'Viajeros digital health/customs declaration online within roughly 7 days before arrival, which generates a QR code needed at check-in and immigration. Cuba is in the Caribbean and is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 short-stay rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route. Argentine passports should be valid for at least six months. Because no visa-free or visa-waiver channel exists for Argentine tourists, the correct verdict is e-Visa.
