Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit New Zealand?
UAE ordinary passport holders do not need a traditional visa for a short tourist visit to New Zealand, but they must request an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) online before travel and pay the International Visitor Levy. The United Arab Emirates is on New Zealand's visa-waiver list, so an Emirati citizen with an ordinary passport may visit for tourism for up to 3 months without applying for a visitor visa in advance. However, since 1 October 2019 all visa-waiver travellers must hold an approved NZeTA before boarding their flight, and most visitors must also pay the NZD 100 International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), which is collected at the same time as the NZeTA. The NZeTA is requested online via the official mobile app (cheaper) or the website, is normally approved within 72 hours, and is valid for 2 years for multiple visits. On arrival, the traveller presents their passport, NZeTA confirmation and a completed New Zealand Traveller Declaration, and is granted a visitor visa at the border. The passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date. This is not a full visa and not visa-on-arrival in the classic sense — it is an electronic travel authority, so the correct verdict is "eta".
