Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit NO?
No visa needed. UAE ordinary passport holders can visit Norway visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism. Holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport do NOT need a Schengen visa to visit Norway for tourism or short business. As confirmed by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in the UAE, Emiratis are visa-exempt and may stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area. No advance authorization is required as of 30 May 2026. Two changes are underway: the Entry/Exit System (EES) — biometric registration of non-EU travellers at the border — has been rolling out since October 2025 and is fully operational from 10 April 2026 (this is done automatically at the border, with no application or fee). ETIAS, a mandatory online travel authorization (€20, valid 3 years) for visa-exempt nationals including Emiratis, is NOT yet required; it is expected to launch in Q4 2026 with a grace period thereafter. Until ETIAS is live, an Emirati traveller simply needs a valid passport and supporting documents at the border. Note: the exemption applies only to genuine UAE nationals holding a UAE passport — UAE travel documents issued to non-nationals do not qualify.
