United Arab Emirates to New Caledonia visa requirements

UAE ordinary passport holders do not need a visa for New Caledonia. The official French exemption list for New Caledonia includes the United Arab Emirates for all passport types, allowing short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. New Caledonia is a special-status French collectivity in the South Pacific. It is part of the French Republic but is not in the Schengen Area, and Schengen short-stay visas/waivers do not automatically apply there; French overseas territories maintain their own visa-exemption lists. The current Legifrance New Caledonia exemption article, in force since 19 June 2025, lists 'Emirats arabes unis' with an exemption extending to all passport types, so UAE ordinary passport holders may enter New Caledonia for tourism without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required for the New Caledonia stay itself. Travelers must still meet border-entry conditions: passport issued within the last 10 years and valid at least 3 months beyond the planned departure date, two blank pages, return/onward ticket, sufficient funds, and travel/medical insurance with repatriation coverage. Because New Caledonia is remote, UAE travelers usually transit through Australia, New Zealand, Japan, or another hub. Transit rules are separate: Australia requires UAE passport holders to obtain an Australian visa/authority before travel, with UAE passport holders eligible to apply online for a Visitor visa (e600/subclass 600), while Japan has extended visa-free short stays to 90 days for UAE nationals holding ICAO-compliant IC ordinary passports from 1 July 2025.
