UAE ordinary passport holders need an eVisa to visit Mauritania for tourism. The eVisa must be obtained online before boarding; the fee (around 55 EUR / 60 USD for a 30-day stay) is paid in cash on arrival. As of 2026, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport are NOT visa-free for Mauritania. Mauritania's visa-free list covers only a handful of African and Maghreb states plus, for the UAE, diplomatic and service passport holders only. Ordinary Emirati travelers must obtain a Mauritania eVisa. Mauritania launched its eVisa system in January 2025, and since 5 January 2025 all visa-required nationals must complete the electronic visa application and receive approval before boarding their flight. Traditional visa-on-arrival has been largely phased out (limited availability only at Nouakchott airport), so the eVisa is the standard and recommended route. The application is filed on the official ANRPTS portal (anrpts.gov.mr/visa/requestvisa); no payment is taken online, and the visa fee (about 55 EUR or 60 USD for a 30-day single-entry visa) is paid in exact cash on arrival in USD or EUR.
