Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit KE?
UAE ordinary passport holders need an approved Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before travel. It is applied for fully online, costs USD 32.50 (plus a small bank fee), and allows a single-entry stay of up to 90 days. Since January 2024 Kenya has replaced its traditional visa and visa-on-arrival systems with a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for nearly all foreign visitors. The United Arab Emirates is NOT on Kenya's eTA exemption list (which, after the May 2025 amendments, covers most African nationals plus a defined list of Caribbean, Pacific and a few other states), so Emirati citizens must obtain an eTA before boarding. The eTA is requested entirely online at the official portal etakenya.go.ke. The standard tourist eTA is single-entry, costs USD 32.50 (a small bank/service fee of roughly USD 1.59 is added at payment), allows a stay of up to 90 days, and is valid for 90 days from issue. Processing is typically up to 3 working days; applications can be submitted up to 90 days before travel and must be lodged at least 3 days in advance. Airlines will deny boarding without an approved eTA. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if arriving from or transiting an endemic country.
