🇦🇪United Arab Emirates🇯🇵JapanAE-JP United Arab Emirates to Japan visa requirements
No visa needed. UAE ordinary passport holders can enter Japan visa-free for short tourist stays of up to 90 days, provided they hold an ICAO-compliant biometric (IC chip) passport. As of 2026, United Arab Emirates citizens holding an ordinary ICAO-compliant IC passport do NOT need a visa for tourism or short visits to Japan. Effective 1 July 2025, Japan extended the visa-exempt stay for UAE nationals from 30 days to 90 days. The exemption applies only to holders of an ordinary UAE Integrated Circuit (IC chip / biometric) passport that meets ICAO standards. Travel must be for short-term stay purposes such as sightseeing, business meetings, or visiting relatives and friends, and must not involve remunerative activity in Japan. No advance application, eVisa, or ETA is required for eligible short stays; travelers present their valid e-passport at immigration and landing permission is decided on arrival. A visa is required for stays over 90 days, long-term residence, study, employment, or other activities that require a visa. Note this is a reciprocal arrangement; Japanese nationals have enjoyed similar 90-day visa-free access to the UAE since August 2024.
