Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit IE?
UAE ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist visits to Ireland and may stay up to 90 days. Ireland is outside the Schengen Area, so ETIAS does not apply. Emirati citizens holding an ordinary UAE passport are on Ireland's visa-exempt list and may enter for tourism, business or family visits without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. The exemption has been in place since 31 January 2018. At the border you must satisfy an immigration officer of your purpose and means: a passport valid for the duration of stay (carriers commonly require 6 months), proof of onward/return travel, accommodation and sufficient funds. Crucially, Ireland is NOT part of the Schengen Area and does not participate in the EU's ETIAS scheme — the ETIAS travel authorisation that Emirati travellers will need from late 2026 applies only to Schengen/EU states, not to Ireland. Time spent in Ireland is also counted separately from the Schengen 90/180 allowance. To stay longer than 90 days, study, work or join family, a separate visa or preclearance is required.
