United Arab Emirates to Hungary visa requirements

UAE ordinary passport holders can travel to Hungary visa-free for short tourist stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. No visa or ETIAS is required as of 2026-06-19 because ETIAS is not yet in operation. The United Arab Emirates has a visa-waiver agreement with the European Union, so Emirati nationals holding an ordinary passport enjoy visa-free entry to Hungary and the rest of the Schengen Area for tourism, business, or family visits. The allowance is up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted cumulatively across all Schengen states (not per country). Hungary's official visa-free travel information lists UAE ordinary passport holders as visa-free for short stays, and the Hungarian OIF describes visa-free short-term stay as not exceeding 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa application, fee, or ETIAS authorization is required as of 2026-06-19. Travelers present a valid passport at the Schengen external border, where an officer may ask for proof of accommodation, return or onward travel, sufficient funds, and purpose of stay. The Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational since 10 April 2026 and records non-EU short-stay travellers' passport, biometric and entry/exit data at Schengen external borders instead of manual passport stamping. ETIAS is not in operation and no action is required from travellers at this point. It is expected to start in the last quarter of 2026; once applicable after transition and grace rules, visa-exempt nationals including UAE citizens will need an approved ETIAS, with a EUR 20 fee for most adults and exemptions for applicants under 18 or over 70. ETIAS is not a visa and does not change the visa-free status.
