Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit GR?

No visa needed. UAE ordinary passport holders enter Greece visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. United Arab Emirates ordinary passport holders enjoy visa-free access to Greece for short tourist stays. Greece is part of the Schengen Area, and the EU lifted visa requirements for Emirati nationals on 7 May 2015. Emiratis may stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period for tourism, business, or family visits, with no visa or fee required. Stays beyond 90 days, or for work/study, require a Greek national (long-stay) visa applied for in advance. A new requirement is on the horizon: ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is scheduled to begin operations in the last quarter of 2026. ETIAS is NOT a visa but a mandatory online pre-travel authorisation that visa-exempt nationals (including Emiratis) will need to obtain before travelling once it launches; it costs EUR 7 and is valid for up to three years. As of 31 May 2026 ETIAS is not yet operational, so no pre-authorisation is currently required, but UAE travellers should check its status before departure later in 2026. The Entry/Exit System (EES), a biometric border registration system, is also being rolled out and affects all non-EU visitors at Schengen external borders. Travellers should carry proof of onward travel, accommodation, sufficient funds, and travel medical insurance, as border officers may request these.
