Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit GM?
UAE ordinary passport holders can enter The Gambia visa-free for short tourist stays of up to 90 days. No visa, e-visa, or visa-on-arrival is needed in advance. You only need a passport valid 6+ months, a yellow fever vaccination certificate, proof of onward/return travel, and cash for the small airport security fee. The Gambia grants visa-free entry to United Arab Emirates ordinary passport holders for short visits (tourism, business, or visiting family) of up to 90 days. The Gambia maintains a broad unilateral visa-exemption list that covers all African Union, Commonwealth, EU and EFTA states plus a set of named countries that explicitly includes the United Arab Emirates, with no passport-type restriction. This is separate from the March 2025 Gambia-UAE Memorandum of Understanding ratified by the Gambian National Assembly, which additionally covers diplomatic and service passport holders. No advance visa application is therefore required for ordinary UAE travelers. Entry is granted at the border on presentation of a valid passport. Note that The Gambia is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so no Schengen 90/180 rule or ETIAS applies. All travelers should carry an International Certificate of Vaccination against yellow fever, hold a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, and be prepared to show proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds. A security fee of about USD 20 (roughly D1,000) is collected in cash on both arrival and departure at Banjul International Airport. Because some commercial visa-service sites still show outdated "visa required" or "30 day" information, travelers are advised to verify with the Gambia Immigration Department or the Gambian Embassy in Abu Dhabi shortly before travel, and to confirm yellow fever requirements with their airline.
