Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit Finland?
UAE ordinary passport holders can visit Finland visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. No visa is required for tourism. ETIAS authorisation is not yet mandatory as of 30 May 2026. Finland is part of the Schengen Area, and the United Arab Emirates is on the EU Schengen visa-exemption list. This means holders of an ordinary UAE passport do not need a visa for short tourist or business visits to Finland — they may enter and move freely within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. The 90 days are cumulative across ALL Schengen countries, not 90 days per country. At the border, travellers must still satisfy a Finnish/Schengen border officer with a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the planned departure (with at least 2 blank pages), proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds; travel/medical insurance is strongly recommended. The visa exemption covers tourism and short business visits only — it does not permit work, study, or stays beyond 90/180. A key upcoming change: the EU's ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2026. Once live and after its transitional period, visa-exempt nationals — including Emiratis — will need to obtain a €20 online travel authorisation (valid 3 years or until passport expiry) before travelling. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is NOT yet required, so UAE nationals can currently travel to Finland with only a valid passport.
