🇦🇪UAE🇪🇸SPAIN (SCHENGEN)AE-ES Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit Spain (Schengen)?
UAE ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for Spain. They can enter the Schengen Area visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. No visa application is required as of 30 May 2026. The United Arab Emirates is on the EU's visa-exempt list (Annex II of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806), so Emirati citizens holding an ordinary passport may travel to Spain and the wider Schengen Area without a visa for short stays. The limit is 90 days of stay in any rolling 180-day period for tourism, business or family visits. No Schengen visa application, sticker or fee is involved. Travelers must still carry a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and may be asked at the border to show proof of accommodation, return/onward tickets and sufficient funds. Two new EU border systems are arriving: the Entry/Exit System (EES) began operating at Schengen external borders from April 2026, registering travelers biometrically instead of stamping passports. The ETIAS travel authorisation (a EUR 20 online pre-authorisation, valid 3 years, multiple entries) is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2026, with a transitional/grace period before it becomes strictly mandatory. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is NOT yet required, so visa-free entry applies with no pre-registration. Once ETIAS is live, Emirati travelers will need to obtain it before departure, but it remains a light authorisation, not a visa.
