Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit DZ?

Yes, UAE ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit Algeria. There is no visa-free entry, eVisa, or general visa on arrival - you must obtain a paper visa from the Algerian Embassy in Abu Dhabi before you travel. As of 31 May 2026, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport require a visa to enter Algeria for tourism or a short visit. The UAE is not on Algeria's short visa-exemption list (which currently covers only a handful of countries such as Tunisia, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Seychelles and a few others). Algeria does not yet operate an eVisa for UAE nationals, and the limited visa-on-arrival channel applies only to travelers on tours organized by an approved Algerian travel agency to designated southern (Sahara) provinces - it is not available for general arrivals at airports like Algiers. The standard route is a traditional sticker/paper tourist visa applied for in person (or via an authorized agency) at the Embassy of Algeria in Abu Dhabi. Applicants need a passport valid at least six months, confirmed accommodation (hotel booking or certificate of accommodation/invitation), proof of onward travel, photos, and the consular fee. In December 2024 Algeria proposed expanding visa-on-arrival nationwide, but no confirmed operational change for independent UAE tourists has been documented, so travelers should plan on an embassy visa.
