🇦🇪UAE🇩🇪GERMANY (SCHENGEN)AE-DE Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit Germany (Schengen)?
UAE ordinary passport holders can travel to Germany visa-free for tourism, staying up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. The United Arab Emirates has a Schengen visa-waiver agreement in force since May 2015, so holders of an ordinary UAE passport do not need a visa to enter Germany for tourism or short visits. Entry is governed by the Schengen short-stay rule: a maximum of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted cumulatively across all Schengen states (not per country). No work is permitted on a visa-free entry. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the previous 10 years. As of 30 May 2026, no travel authorization is yet required, but the EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) began phased rollout on 10 April 2026, biometrically registering non-EU travelers at the border. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is expected to launch around Q4 2026 and become mandatory after a transitional period (earliest 2027); once live, Emiratis will need a low-cost ETIAS authorization before travel. Until then, travel remains fully visa- and authorization-free. Travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds, as Schengen border officers may request these.
