Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit CU?
UAE ordinary passport holders now need a Cuba e-Visa (single entry, up to 90 days) before travelling. Since July 1, 2025 the old paper tourist card has been replaced by the mandatory electronic visa for nearly all visitors. You must also complete the free D'Viajeros online form within 7 days of arrival. Emirati citizens do not need a traditional consular sticker visa to visit Cuba for tourism, and historically travelled on a simple tourist card. However, Cuba overhauled its entry system: as of July 1, 2025 the paper tourist card was permanently discontinued and replaced by a mandatory electronic visa (e-Visa) for nearly all international travellers, including UAE ordinary passport holders. The e-Visa is single entry and allows a stay of up to 90 days, extendable once in-country for a further 90 days. Applications are made through the official eVisaCuba portal or via a Cuban consulate/authorised agency, since the portal does not yet handle all online payments directly. Separately, every traveller must complete the free D'Viajeros health, customs and immigration declaration online within 7 days before arrival; this is not a visa but is required to board and enter. Travellers should hold a passport valid at least 6 months, proof of onward/return travel, and confirmed accommodation. Because the tourist-card channel is gone and an electronic authorisation is now compulsory, the correct classification for a short tourist stay is e-Visa rather than visa-free.
