Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit CH?
No visa needed. UAE (Emirati) ordinary passport holders can enter Switzerland visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, and holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport are visa-exempt for short stays. You may enter for tourism, business, or family visits for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period without applying for a Schengen visa in advance. The 90 days are counted cumulatively across ALL Schengen countries, not per country. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure from the Schengen Area and have been issued within the previous 10 years. At the border you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, sufficient funds, and travel insurance. Looking ahead, the EU's ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is expected to become mandatory for visa-exempt travellers, including Emiratis, in the last quarter of 2026. ETIAS is not a visa but a pre-travel electronic authorisation costing EUR 20, valid for three years; once it launches you will need to obtain it online before flying. As of 30 May 2026 it is not yet required, so Emirati nationals currently travel to Switzerland with no pre-authorisation.
